Bumper Sticker Spotted

Bumper Sticker spotted in the parking lot at Publix (our local supermarket):

In big letters “10 out of 10 Terrorists”, and in the second line, slightly smaller “Support Anyone But Bush”.

Which is really odd, as the evidence is nearly irrefutable that GW Bush is exactly what nutcases like Bin Laden really want: a Western leader who wears his Christianity on his sleeve, who invades a Muslim nation on trumped-up claims, and settles in for de facto occupation. The perfect foil to radicalize a generation. Bonus points for long-time family friendship with the Saudi monarchy, whom bin Laden also would oppose but for their financial support.

How to attempt to educate the displayer of such a sticker? Our suburban society offers no forum that I know of in which any discussion can take place.

  1. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. And trust me, that student ain’t ready.

  2. Nemo says:

Similar to a bumper sticker posted in the window of the GOP headquarters in Louisville, KY:

    Courier-Journal, July 17, 2004:

“U.S. Rep. Anne Northup’s re-election campaign yesterday denounced as inappropriate a bumper sticker being circulated in Louisville that suggests a vote for Democrat John Kerry in November’s presidential election is a vote for Osama bin Laden.

“But the campaign’s chairman said Northup would not ask the Jefferson County Republican Party to stop distributing the stickers, which read: ‘Kerry is bin Laden’s man/ President Bush is mine.’

“Campaign chairman Ted Jackson said a flap over the bumper stickers is ‘a party matter. It’s not something I see a role for the campaign to play.’ “

Fortunately, three days later, Northup reversed her position, but hopefully not before her position irreparably harmed her campaign:

    Courier-Journal, July 20, 2004:

“At the urging of U.S. Rep. Anne Northup, the Jefferson County Republican Party has removed from the window of its headquarters a controversial bumper sticker that suggests a vote for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry is a vote for Osama bin Laden.

“‘We have called them and asked them to take it down,’ Northup, R-3rd District, said during a news conference yesterday.”

  3. Mojo says:

Satan told me yesterday that he favors Bush while God said he’s on Kerry’s side. Hitler chimed in to express his admiration for Cheney. I love bold statements that can’t be proven false!

  4. MP says:

Bush kills terrorists. Kerry will complain to the UN and try to sue them. That will be great for you lawyers, bad for dead Americans.

“How to attempt to educate the displayer of such a sticker?”

Why don’t you offer a scholarship to UM law?

  5. Jonathan says:

“Bush kills terrorists”. Sure, he does. So would Kerry — after all, he’s actually pulled the trigger fighting for his country (which Bush never has). The difference is that Bush created far more terrorists than when he started, by invading a country that has nothing to do with al Qaeda and making bin Laden a prophet.

“Kerry will complain to the UN and try to sue them”.

That’s got to be just about the dumbest thing anyone has said in a long, long time.

  6. HOWIE says:

Well I’m sorry you feel that if Kerry is in office we will be safer because he will be spending the four years trying to make up his mind whether to defend or run and in most cases he will run. the terrorists would much rather have Kerry in office because he is afraid to do anything to them he cares more about world opinion not what needs to be done. You liberals are the LAST to learn and you usually learn the HARD WAY!!! If Bush is who the terrorists are attacking then why did they attack in spain and in russia? why are they attacking our troops why are they attacking our citizens??? i don’t think that’s Bush there!!! If Kerry is in office i can almost guarantee you that we will have the government running everyones life, the rich people will have to support those on welfair instead of those people GETTING A JOB!! How bout this one… Drunk Hobo’s for Kerry… does that say anything to you… saying that Bush is only for rich people is bull because he has made it so that people making over 60,000 a year are paying more than 80% of the taxes and most people making under 40,000 end up being exempt from taxes… John Kerry wants to turn this country communist saying that the rich people need to support the poor people by taxes, if this happens the rich people will find ways to lower their income then guess what… we have absolutly NO income to the government and with the over $2 trillion kerry wants to spend presumably on heathcare, which by the way will suck, we wont have ANY money… you liberals complain about the economy now wait untill Kerry gets in office and see what happens you’ll be asking for a re-do IMMEDIATLY. while yes it’s true the economy could be better and it’s not the best it’s ever been, it’s also not the worst and let me tell you with small businesses providing most of the jobs now because of substantial growth in our economy it will be getting much better. O and about the welware once again a government paid welfair type system is part of the reason that the great Roman empire fell… DO YOU WANT THAT HAPPENING HERE? and to have a government run health care system will be totally destructive because they will take the patients who most likely don’t need as intensive care in before the important cases.

The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and cooperation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation
has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life.”
