I am not a Ron DeSantis fan, but I don’t think this will play like the Dukakis moment.
Dukakis was viewed as soft on defense and had no military experience. GHW Bush was a war veteran.
DeSantis is a Navy vet who served with SEALs in Fallujah, and who received a Bronze Star for his service.
I was young when Dukakis had his moment, but I remember my family laughing at the soft little man trying to play soldier. All DeSantis has to do to overcome this problem is roll out this picture. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_DeSantis#/media/File:Ron_DeSantis_US_Navy_Ensign.webp
