Sounds a lot like you’re teaching Elements, Michael!
Seriously, I applaud the “long, hard slog” through a classic case as an introduction to a first-year course. For many years, I would spend the first two-to-three sessions of Contracts on Hurley v. Eddingfield. And when cranky senior colleagues began complaining about my “lack of coverage” — and pressing those complaints during the tenure process — I responded in the only way I know: by devoting an additional week to Hurley. Enjoy!
