Tame

Seen on a maling list of folks I mostly knew in college:

It's 7 pm in uganda and raining cats and baboons. We've been on the road, if u can call it that, for about 5 hours, with no end in sight. Sent from my blackberry…

If you ask me the “Sent from my blackberry…” line (added automatically I'd imagine), sort of undermines what precedes it.

Meanwhile, here it's not yet 9am and it's already 78 (26 C) and muggy here. But no baboons.

You do know, don’t you that the “Sent from my Blackberry” thing is added automatically by the Balckberry? iPhones do the same thing. Whether it can be turned off, I have no idea.

I didn’t know, but I guessed, which was the point of “(added automatically I’d imagine)”.

not turning it off is sort of like leaving the pricetag on your new clothes.

Actually, it’s there because these things have big usage in the business world. The “sent from my little handheld device” tag lines are not there to brag, but to indicate to your business associates why you are giving them a minimal and informal reply and possibly misspelling things because of the little buttons. It’s just a polite reminder than has become common place among those that use these things for business.

Sounds silly maybe, but believe me, when you get a rather terse and oddly misspelled reply from a Vice President of a company, it sort of explains that you do NOT have to call the paramedics for him!
