If only, if only, this Glenn Greenwald column were an April Fools. But Your modern-day Republican Party is all too real.

It seems that leading GOP Presidential candidates mostly don't have any problem with the idea that the President has the power to imprison American citizens without any opportunity for review of any kind.

Constitutional rights? Those are for sissies.

    I am usually an optimist, but recently I can’t help but think that we are near (or over) the brink. I met an otherwise perfectly reasonable conservative the other day, and his response to everything was just boilerplate comments about how the Democrats will tax people to death, enact trade barriers, etc. I talked about GOP support for torture and death squads he responds with this kind of stuff. All of it was just standard stereotyping…
