Oh those stupid Republicans and their belief in something as silly as "economics".
Geez, what do these guys know about markets and the economy? Clearly these morons were taking business, finance, and economics course while us smart Dems were studying anthropology, sociology, and other soft classes...right? right?
Posted by: Kman at January 26, 2007 12:11 AMWrong. Labor markets are so far from perfect that none of that Austrian stuff applies. (Not to mention that the assumptions about rationality on which neo-classical economics is based are seriously questionable.)
Republicans choose to believe free-market fantasies when it suits the interest of large businesses, but have no problem abandoning it when it means corporate welfare.

Ya know,
It's kinda stupid having to refight this battle every few years -with Dems always winning this battle- and still the Minimum Wage has never regained the purchasing power it had at its inception.
so why not trade the elimination of the Minimum Wage for something meaningful...like equal protection between Unions/Labor versus Employers.
