This video seems to suggest that only men should vote in this election.

    • That is a remarkably creative misreading! Bravo!

      • Eric says:

Not quite as creative as blaming Donald Trump for the common cold, especially when the economic fallout has been 100% related to the individual state policies.

Anyone stupid enough to believe that narrative should not be allowed to vote in the first place.

        • This is nonsense: “the economic fallout has been 100% related to the individual state policies.” To take the most obvious example, what about the cost of care of the ill?

And further, shouldn’t one compare the costs of closure policies to the cost of not having closure policies? (It seems, alas, we are about to run the natural experiment, as the failure to impose sufficient anti-covid policies are causing a new wave of cases.)

This is fascistic: “Anyone stupid enough to believe that narrative should not be allowed to vote in the first place.”

I may think that people who believe the above are both deluded and dangerous, but I will defend their right to vote in a democracy.

I suggest you give yourself a break of, say, a couple of weeks. Maybe you will feel better?

          • Eric says:

I completely agree my comment about voting restrictions based on intelligence is fascistic. It was necessary to point out the problem with creating subjective standards in society with respect to the exercise of fundamental rights.

For instance, your insinuation about my danger to others would necessarily lead to my eventual imprisonment if I chose to live without wearing a mask. I just don’t understand your logic and that’s the one thing that upsets me more than anything.

Why do you think we (and other people) disagree so much about the coronavirus and the responses taken to combat it?

Do you honestly think I’m stupid?

  2. Eric says:

If you expect the world to stop turning to keep you safe then I expect you to respond.

I see absolutely no reason to forego my humanity, even temporarily, to accommodate the radicalized hypochondria of the hysterical baby boomers. It is not my job to sacrifice my life to prolong yours, especially when you don’t even have the courtesy to engage in a prolonged discourse. I realize you are a busy professor but the rest of the world is busy too. Don’t tell us what to do when we can’t do the same to you.

Otherwise, you are no better than a petty tyrant with a penchant for selfishness.
