I Expect the Memory Hole to Be Very Busy

Eschaton is one of the first to speculate about all the GOP talking points that are about to be subjected to major forgetting.

To his “Up or down vote” I'd add all the stuff about respecting the commander in chief.

[Lest I be misunderstood, I'd like to note that

(1) I don't think filibusters are inherently wrong, even when they block things I like;

(2) I do think a great deal of the 'respect for the CIC' talk was wrong-headed, an attempt to shut down meaningful debates that should have taken place; but,

(3) I have a very low tolerance for hypocrisy.]

  1. in re filibuster: The idea of limiting debate in the Senate based on the wishes of a simple majority is inherently offensive.

    BUT, lets make these people stand up on their hind legs and actually flat out full Wayne Morse filibuster. No more of these weenie “we could if we wanted to” filibusters.

    Best (or worst) of all Barack Hussein Obama has all the powers of the PATRIOT Act and the FISA bill at his disposal.

    But I’m sure the GOP will rediscover the Constitution and Checks and Balances by about oh 12:01 pm Sunday January 21 2009. Oh yeah and Joe Lieberman will be right there with whatever committee Reid lets him keep to start investigating.

    I have said for a number of months that the best way to get the Republicans to change their minds about the unitary executive is to elect a Democrat president.
