FT: Somalia strike ‘missed al-Qaeda targets’
The controversial US air strike in southern Somalia missed all three top al-Qaeda members Washington alleges are hiding out in the country, a senior US official said on Thursday.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said eight to 10 “al-Qaeda affiliated terrorists” were killed in Monday’s attack, but gave no details.
Imagine if it had been the Clinton administration: the media would be all over it.
To make it worse, the story I read said that the strike had killed “Somalis with ties to al Qaeda members” rather than killing actual al Qaeda members.
Superb job of drawing attention to a military failure by our “country”. The gang imagery really brings the point home and “honors” our troops. And your point about Clinton–spot on and totally relevant. The media is sooooo soft on Bush its rediculous! They make it out like we’re winning in Iraq, but they portray Clinton as “militarialistically” impotent. We all know that Clinton made peace in Israel and Bush screwed it all up.
Consider devoting some of your blogging to exposing the American conspiracy to portray Somalia as a lawless terrorist haven, when in fact the TRUTH is that Mogadishu is an ideal vacation spot and a great place to raise a family.

Kind of like all the terrorist trials here in the US that fail to lead to convictions? Those never seem to make headlines either.
I’ve heard for a while now that Djibouti and Somalia are heating up as al Queda centers of operation. But actually admiting that might take impetus off of Iraqi operations and question the ROI of money being paid to contractors in Iraq.
