If McCain was a leftist (I'm not sure that he isn't really) Democrat, would you be making fun of his age or praising his wisdom? Just curious.

Neither, I suspect. It's true that I don't routinely attack candidates whose policies I support during election season, at least not in this particular forum, but I absolutely won't write good things about candidates I don't like even if I agree with them. And McCain, even were he on my ideological wavelength -- which I would not call "leftist" at all, by the way -- is such an awful hypocrite, and so uninformed about basic things you'd expect a decent Presidential candidate to know about, that I'd probably mostly frequently stew in silence.
