You scored as Existentialist. Existentialism
emphasizes human capability. There is no greater power interfering with
life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes
considered a negative and depressing world view, your optimism towards
human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and
must accept the responsibility.

Got me just right--cultural creative at the top, followed my postmodern, mix of existentialist with a dash (31% like you, Michael--scary, huh?) of fundamentalist, with 44% idealist. And the trick is I really couldn't explain to you why it came out like that; that is, if you asked me, "What is your philisophy?" or something I couldn't tell you.
But hey, I'm only a Lit major Grad student.
Posted by: jim at May 25, 2005 12:30 AMGood for you! Habermasian existentialists of the world, unite! (But you don't get to write the existentialism-and-law article: I'm already workong in that. Seriously, I am!)
Posted by: Paul Gowder at May 31, 2005 04:12 PMIn the context of this quiz, I assume an "idealist" is one who "posits the primacy of spirit, mind, or language over matter," rather than one who "has high ideals." See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idealism. So given your 69% materialist rating, I'm not surprised you didn't score higher on the idealist scale. By the way, doesn't your shockingly low 50% postmodernist score disqualify you from teaching at the college level?
Posted by: Neal at May 31, 2005 05:02 PMRemember, these are meaningless quizzes. A good part of the joke is how wrong they are. I am probably more like 5% post-modernist at most, I'd say. I still believe in stuff.
