She Does it Again

Someone serious really needs to run against Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernández Rundle.

Prosecutors say no crime was committed in scalding death of Miami inmate:

The corrections officers who locked a schizophrenic man in a shower for nearly two hours — a shower that some inmates say was used as a means to punish unruly prisoners with blistering hot water — committed no crime, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernández Rundle announced Friday.

The state attorney’s two-year investigation into the June 23, 2012, death of Darren Rainey at Dade Correctional Institution concluded that the officers — Sgt. John Fan Fan, Cornelius Thompson, Ronald Clarke and Edwina Williams — did not act with premeditation, malice, recklessness, ill-will, hatred or evil intent when they herded Rainey into the shower.

Uh-huh.

(Note the Friday afternoon dump to minimize news coverage.)

Update: The local New Times pulls no punches, Katherine Fernandez Rundle, Miami’s Top Prosecutor, Is a Disgrace.

Perhaps the time has finally come that you and others would recommend that folks read my detailed, documented 8 part series that I published last year regarding Katherine Fernandez-Rundle and her relationship with Court Options, the Advocacy Program and how she used these programs to extort forced donations from the clients of these programs to fund the Denise Moon Foundation. http://www.thecrespogram.com/corruption-in-the-court-system.html

I wouldn’t lend any credence to anything written by Mr. Crespo. A few years ago he ran a series of pieces that touched on me personally. He used my name in those articles on various occasions and implied that I was part of corrupt transaction involving a local politician. Mr. Crespo was wrong on the facts and never bothered to contact me (although having my name and knowing that I am a lawyer, finding my email, mailing address, and telephone number is as easy as checking the Florida Bar website). Had Mr. Crespo contacted me, I could have walked him through it in a clear fashion and his theory would have been debunked.

I choose to remain anonymous on this posting as 1) I am a private citizen not involved in public affairs; 2) that article is years old and the politician in question no longer holds public office; and 3)

Mr. Crespo’s likes controversy and explores the facts only as far as they will support his theory of controversy. Mr. Crespo’s track record is one of failing to follow the facts to their conclusion when to do so might debunk his preconceived conclusions.

If what you say is true, and I didn’t contact you, why didn’t you contact me? I have a very clear and documented track record of publicly acknowledging when I make a mistake, and of apologizing on my site when I do.

So if I did something wrong, don’t hide behind anonymity and make the claim. Put it out there and if I was wrong, then I’ll apologize, and if I’m not then….

I did not then, and do not now, wish to see my name in the papers/blogs. I would prefer to let time erase the mistake. You should have contacted me BEFORE using my name.
