Kerik Has A Nanny Problem

Kerik Withdraws Name for Homeland Security Chief.

Does that mean we can expect the original to replace the copy? He did, after all, say,

We only see the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don't see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do.

Sounds like just the guy to run the Ministry of Internal Security in this administration.

Kerik had lots of problems. He’s been bagmanning for Rudy, as part owner of a bagman outfit called Giuliani-Kerik LLC. Rudy gave him the job, and the opportunity, to make $10 million a year. Rudy isn’t retiring. What, was Bernie going to say NO to Rudy when Rudy called about one of his clients? Bernie couldn’t insulate himself from conflicts if he was Houdini and the Human Pretzel combined.

Nineteen years ago, Bernie was a street narc in NYC. Mid 80s, it was guns south to the Contras, coke north to the cities. Reagan said he was a contra too, they were “the moral equivalent of the founding fathers.” Cocaine traffickers bad, contras good, so if you’re the first and want to live, you take the hint.

So plenty of customers for Bernie and the Task Force in NY; party time. FBI does the CBI, “hey Jim, tell me some Bernie Kerik stories.” Not about nannies, nosir.
