Listen to new Byrne/Eno Album

David Byrne has made an online stream of the new Byrne/Brian Eno album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, available:

I’ve been enjoying Brian Eno’s music since high school, and Byrne probably almost as long. In interviews, both men also seem like particularly interesting people. (It would be nice to live a life where one got to hang out with people like that!)

I’m going to have listen to Everything That Happens Will Happen Today a few times before I decide what I think of it. On first listen, I like it, but I’m not sure it meets my insanely high expectations.

Thanks for this, Michael. I've been listening to Eno and Byrne for a long time also. Have you heard Byrne's building "organ" where he plays an entire building? Great fun. Comparable to Alvin Lucier's Music on a Long Thin Wire, where he strung a wire across the dome of the customs house in SDNY and sent electric charges down it which it then "played".

Bryne is really good. Nice video.

My take: much of it lacks the intensity and catchiness of earlier efforts. Just as Robert Plant did with Allison Krause. It kinda sounds like an 'easy listening' version, decent but not great. However, I Feel My Stuff was definitely a keeper, though even that ran a little long to match up to their earlier works.

Musical experts might find more to appreciate. But for me, I go with what moves my spirit, emotions and/or mind and I've heard each do much better than this release provides.

Note that those of us who actually hang out with Michael now have reason to sulk.....

The first E&B project was altogether great..... But then I thought that Krause & Plant was really good, so what do I know?
