Wireless-less in Italy

Saturday I’m leaving for a conference in Bologna. I don’t know much about what sort of internet access I’ll have — but I just read about the frustration of finding a wireless connection in Italy so who knows.

Bologna is beautiful. You will eat very well. The Johns Hopkins SAIS campus (at Via Belmeloro 11) has free Wifi now, I think. Out of curiosity, what is the conference?

When I was in Italy several years ago, I didn't bring my laptop, so I can't advise as to wireless connections. However, pretty much every place I went, including Bologna, had internet cafes where you bought time on their computers, so you'll certainly have internet access.

If you are going to be in Bologna, do yourself a favor and don't waste any time trying to hunt down a wireless connection. Just enjoy the city.

I found lots of Internet Cafes in Italy but most required me to show a passport in order to use their computers, which apparently is legally required.
