Call for Conservative Bloggers to Prove anti-Bush Documents are Fakes

YesBushCan.com is an energetic little site. It has issued a call for Bloggers Unite to Prove False Docs:

You exposed RatherGate by proving the CBS documents were fake — nice work! But now the liberals have found a bunch more documents so our work is not done. Let's get to work proving that these are fake, too!

Their list of documents includes:

Dick Cheney's DUI
George W. Bush's DUI
George W. Bush's Second DUI
Memo to Ken Lay
Second Memo to Ken Lay
Osama Warning Document Part 1
Osama Warning Document Part 2

Of course, this Truth Squadding stuff is not a project for the faint of heart!

    Frist!

Ha! that site is a laff riot. Check out the Smokey the Log video. And the Patriot Pledge page:

“I volunteer to lobby local, state, and federal officials for a permanent nuclear waste storage facility in my community.”

    or this one:

“I volunteer to give up some constitutional rights to support the war on terrorism.”

    Hats’ off to ya, fellas.

  2. The fact that neocons are writing in to thank them for the help but ask that they get a bit more informed is just the best of all…

Evidently being a republican these days means expecting a bit of craziness in the party line…

  3. Chris says:

“Bush can’t afford truth this year.”

When Bush supporters can say this in obvious awareness of Bush’s failings and yet remain faithful Bush supporters, then we have the final coffin nail in the myth of Republican integrity. But it is kind of nice to see that at least some Bush supporters are capable of reflection and showing appreciation for the consequences of their actions.

the links to the individual documents return:

    I’m sorry but we can’t do that. It’s just a 404.
Perhaps you’d like to return to Discourse.net?

    The links at http://www.yesbushcan.com/falsedocs.shtml
    do work.

After reading through the site I suspect it of being someone’s idea of a joke. And it is a very good one.

    2. JOKE? Well, actually, yes, it’s a joke – that’s why it’s filed under “completely different” and not “politics” as a category…

  7. Chris says:

    Well, damn.

You just shattered my comfortable illusion that there are actually Republicans out there who are rational and can anticipate the negative consequences of their actions. Sigh.

  8. Laura says:

The Yes Men do it again . . . .

  9. Mark says:

I was fooled for a few minutes until I tried to take the pledge!
Very cool! Very funny….I can imagine there are rightwingers
out there that will actually believe this.

reminds me of whitehouse.org or landoverbaptist.org, but with less content

still, if only all bush supporters were like this…

  12. Chris says:

Okay, here’s a real joke I picked up off of Mark Kleiman…

    (William Gibson quoting John Cleese:)

How many Bush administration officials does it take to change a light bulb?

None. There’s nothing wrong with that light bulb. There is no need to change anything. We made the right decision and nothing has happened to change our minds. People who criticize this light bulb now, just because it doesn’t work anymore, supported us when we first screwed it in, and when these flip-floppers insist on saying that it is burned out, they are merely giving aid and encouragement to the Forces of Darkness.
